A broad spectrum of opportunities for personal and professional values enhancement are offered. Students are encouraged to form various subject societies where independent creative action is respected and encouraged. If you have passion, it will be shared. Don't hesistate to lead and reinvent various events and activities. The College holds various functions/competitions like Mehandi, Rangoli, Painting, Declamation, Debate, Poetry etc. to find and expose the hidden talent amongst the students. There are various societies in the college. Every student is required to become a member of at least two societies. Incharge of a society trains desirous students to participate in the inter-college competitions.
Mrs. Rimpu, Assistant Prof., Department of English is the Officer Incharge of this society. All students of the college are its members. Intra-college English Writing and Vocabulary Contests, Debates and Quiz Competition are organized every year.
It is headed by Dr. Arun Kalra, Associate Prof., Department of Punjabi. Kavi Darbar, Paper Reading Contests, Debates, Kavita Paath, Essay Writing and Handwriting Competitions are the regular features of this Sabha. All the students having General Punjabi are its members.
Dr. Brahma Ved Sharma, Associate Prof., Department of Hindi is its Incharge. Students, who opt Hindi as a subject are its members. Other students can also join this Sabha. Various activities are held every year. Hindi Dept. celebrates birthday of Late Sh. Munshi Prem Chand which falls on 31st July every year. Kavita Paath, Quiz and Declamation Contest are also organised.
This society is headed by Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, Associate Prof., Department of History & Ms. Neelam Bhardwaj, Assistant Prof., Department of Pol. Science. All the students who opt History and Political Science as a subject are its members. Other students can also become members of this society. It conducts various activities such as Paper Reading Contests on current topics, Debates and Quiz competitions.
It is concerned with the awareness and popularization of Science amongst students & general public.Mr. Subhash Gupta, Dean Science Faculty heads this society. Holding of Poster Making competition, Quiz, Debates, Paper Reading & other Science Popularization activities are the regular features.
Dr. Brahma Ved Sharma, Associate Prof. is the Officer Incharge of Dharam Shiksha. A course in Dharam Shiksha is conducted every year. Its annual examination is held in January/February by Arya Vidya Sabha, New Delhi. Special emphasis is laid on creating awareness among students about the rich cultural heritage of India. Prizes are awarded to the students who stands First, Second and Third. Any student can opt for this course. Movies on Arya Samaj are also shown.
Environment Club of the college enrolls students who wish to participate actively to save and protect Wildlife, reduce Pollution & Global Warming, increase canopy of Green Plants and conserve Energy. The club organizes various activities such as Debates, Declamation Contests and Exhibitions.
Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, Associate Prof. is the Youth Co-ordinator of Youth Welfare Club. Youth Welfare Club is associated with Directorate of Youth Service, Govt. of Punjab and Youth Welfare Dept. Panjab University. Youth Club of the college buzzes with activities throughout the year. Various youth camps, hiking and trekking camps, tours, excursions are being organized. Any student can become the member of the Youth Welfare Club. Students are made aware about domestic violence laws, criminal and civil suits, traffic rules, Right to Information Act and Anti-Ragging Act etc.
All students who opt for Computer Applications as a subject are its members. Other students can also become members of this club. Mr. Subhash Gupta, Associate Prof., Department of Chemistry is its head. Computer Quiz Competition, IT Rangoli Competition, Computer painting using Paint Brush, Chart Making Competition, Collage Making Competition, Typing Test etc. are organized regularly by this club.
Business Club is headed by Dr. Vineet Kumar, Assistant Prof., Department of Commerce. All the students who opt for Commerce as a faculty are its members. Other students can also join this club. The club organizes Quiz Competitions, Debates and Paper Reading on current topics every year.
Red Ribbon Club is a collaboration project of Punjab state AIDS Control Society, Chandigarh that helps to increase awareness HIV/AIDS and removes the stigma attached to the deadly infection. Mrs. Rimpu, Assistant Prof., Department of English is the Program Officer of the Red Ribbon Club in the college. Students are enrolled as members of this club every year. These members spread awareness and help to improve the stigma attached to HIV/AIDs. Many activities are carried out by this club. Red Ribbon is the global symbol of solidarity with HIV positive people living with AIDS. It unites the people in the common fight against this disease.
The preamble of Red Ribbon Club states that "The HIV/AIDS situation in India has become catastrophic and the epidemic represents an unprecedented crisis. The first AIDS case in India was detected in 1986 and since then, HIV infection has been reported in all States and Union Territories. More than 6.0 million Indians are infected with HIV today. The AIDS related suffering of individuals, families and societies is enormous. If left unchecked, the AIDS catastrophe in India will continue to worsen. The number of dead and dying will continue to grow exponentially."Co-ordinator, District Red Cross Society, Sri Muktsar Sahib deliver lecture on the topic 'Aids Awareness'.
Dr. Rajinder Kumar Uppal, Associate Prof., Department of Economics heads the Planning Forum of the college. All the students who opt for Economics as a subject, are its members. Debates, Paper Reading Contests, Quiz Contests etc. are organized by this forum on regular basis.
Alumni Association of the old students of the college has been formed in the college. There are about 40,000 ex-students of this college. Only a few hundred are its members. Efforts will be made for 'Contact Programms' and effective enrolment so as to reach out to our old students for mutual benefit.
College has established a career guidance cell which provides the necessary skills and vision to excel in your dream career. The Employment Cell collects information about various positions advertised, as well as about various competitions/entrance exams schedules, and displays them on the college notice board. The students are also informed about the education/employment opportunities available in India/Abroad. Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, Librarian is the Incharge of this activity.
National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) was set up as an autonomous organization with the Ministry of Home Affairs with the main objective of providing assistance for physical and psychological rehabilitation of child victims of communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence, with special reference to their care, education and training, besides promoting communal harmony, fraternity and national integration. Members of Staff and Students contribute monitary help with full devotion and enthusiasm. Students and Staff also takes the 'National Integration Pledge' on 19th November every year.
The college has developed linkage with Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) recently. This organisation is responsible for carrying out directions of Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India. Our college has been selected to propagate National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC). Mr. Raj Kumar Goyal, Associate Professor is the incharge.
Supreme Court of India has made it mandatory to have Fire Fighting Group ; Fire Cordon Group ; Fire Salvage Group in every school and college of the country who will act during incidents of fire disasters. Dr. Mukta Mutneja, Assistant Prof., Department of Chemistry is the Incharge of fire fighting activities. These groups involve teachers, N.C.C. Cadets, N.S.S. Volunteers and the students. It is the mandatory duty of these groups to be always be ready for fire safety actions. Mock drill of fire fighting will be conducted regularly on the orders of Patron. The district fire fighting officer will also co-operate in these activities.
